Online survey If you have recently walked any part of the Greensand Ridge Walk then Central Bedfordshire Council would be interested in what you thought of it. They have provided an online survey form and would be grateful if you could take a few moments of your time to fill it in.
Great news, the Milton Keynes Bridgebuilder Trust sponsored charity walk was completed on 15 May 2010.
About 50 people took part in the event, including a couple of youth groups, when walkers negotiated Central Bedfordshire’s 40 mile route from east to west finishing their journey at Stockgrove Country Park.
All had a splendid time and three of the intrepid hikers achieved a spectacular completion time of less than 14 hours.
The photo above show members of the youth group from Whaddon Way Church in Bletchley as they cross Woburn Park.
Andy Brown (photo on the left) completed the 40 miles, along with Geoff Hamilton and David Ormerod who also finished the walk. David’s teenage son Joel managed an admirable 27 miles (photo on the right).
Visit the MKBT website for more information about the charity.
Terry McHugh and five ex HM Forces friends plan to walk the route not once but one and a half times in one hit, to notch up a total of 100km to support the work of two charities Help For Heroes (H4H) and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).
Terry and his friends are planning to start their journey on 25 June and finish at Flitwick between 2-4pm on Saturday 26 June, an epic overnight challenge with each of the walkers carrying 30-40lb as a mark of respect for the UK’s brave boys and girls serving in operations around the globe.
H4H was founded in 2007 and offers practical, direct support to wounded servicemen, information on the work of the charity and its supporters can be found at the Help for Heroes website.
SSAFA helps to support those who serve in our Armed Forces and those who have served previously as well as their families.
SSAFA celebrates 125 years of support to Britain’s Armed Forces this year and information about this charity is at their website.
Do support Terry and his friends if you happen to see them out training for their hike and if you choose to support the team please go to the Virgin Money Giving Website.
