The 21st celebration of Bedfordshire’s premier walking route, the Greensand Ridge Walk, was enjoyed by over 100 people, on Sunday 21st October 2007. Everyone enjoyed the walk from Leighton Buzzard to Stockgrove Country Park on what was an absolutely glorious day. The day started for some with an exclusive train journey from Bedford to Leighton Buzzard, courtesy of Sliverlink, the first time a train had made that journey. Others took advantage of parking in Leighton Buzzard and using the free shuttle buses taking people back to their cars at the end of the day.

The 5 mile walk left Tiddenfoot Park and the train station in 15 minute intervals and took in the section of the route that follows the Grand Union Canal with all the barges moored up. Everyone then crossed the water meadows into the woodlands of Rushmere Park and Oak Wood.

Tea and cakes were awaiting the walkers at Stockgrove Country Park where they could peruse the displays of sustainable transport and countryside access and chat to the various organisations that were there. One of the exhibitors was from BRCC arts development team, HAPPEN, explaining how practical art can be used in the countryside such as waymarking and shelters and they were trying to find out what people would like to see a long the route, so watch this space or visit their website.
